Amies Transport Medium Tube

INTENDED USE
Amies Transport medium is used for the collection and transport of clinical specimens containing aerobes, anaerobes and fastidious
bacteria from the collection site to the testing laboratory.

MATERIAL
The tube is made of polypropylene plastic with round bottom.
Red Polyethylene cap specially designed to close hermetically.

FEATURES
Amies Transport Medium w/ & w/o Charcoal consists of a medium tube packed in a peel-off Blister pack and sterilized by radiation.
Polyethylene cap specially designed to close hermetically; non slippery surface when using gloves.
The medium contains sodium chloride in a concentration of 0.3% for optimal preservation of inoculated sample. Potassium, calcium
& magnesium salts serve to maintain osmotic equilibrium by controlling the permeability of bacterial cells. Phosphate buffer maintain
the pH of the medium. Sodium Thioglycollate & Agar provide a reduced environment favorable to a variety of bacteria. Charcoal
neutralizes metabolic products toxic to gonococci & remove the need for using charcoal impregnated swabs.
